Absorbent Hygiene Products (AHPs) have become essential everyday products in our society and their use has increased substantially. Representing 3-4% of the total municipal solid waste, Absorbent Hygiene Products (AHPs) are traditionally considered non-recyclable. Based on the valorisation of the cellulosic fraction of used AHPs waste towards the production of bio-based building blocks, polymers and fertilizers, FaterSMART aims at closing the loop for AHPs waste, reducing greenhouse gases emission and increasing sustainability.
